It is with much sadness that the Class of '75 announces the recent passing
away of Simon Ko, a dear beloved fellow classmate.
Simon passed away for health reason on June 24, 2001 at 45 years old. He was survived by his son Bertram. Simon joined DBS in the Primary Five class in 1968 and stayed until Form Three in 1973 before pursuing further studies in the United Kingdom. During his time at DBS, Simon developed a keen interest in cricket, and was the Cricket Captain of the School Team in 1972/73. Later, he also became interested in motor sports, won the Hong Kong National Karting Championship held at Victoria Park in 1988, and was the champion in a number of saloon car sprint and slalom events held by the Hong Kong Motorsports Club. For those who knew Simon, whether from the days at DBS or after his return to Hong Kong in the early 1980s, they would have known a gentle giant underlined by a zeal for tough challenges, and a propensity to be most caring and supportive to friends. The funeral ceremonies for Simon were held on July 7 and July 8, and were attended by more than two dozens old boys from DBS. Simon will be sadly missed by all of us. Class of '75 |
